7 suspected kidnappers nabbed in Laguna

Seven alleged members of a kidnap-for-ransom gang were arrested after a "hot pursuit operation" in Calauan, Laguna, GMA News’ Saksi reported Tuesday night. The authorities identified the alleged kidnappers as Alberto Toquior, Wilfredo Lagrama, Teddy Libot, Danilo Bandoy, Rommel Asuncion and Rodel Asuncion. The group’s alleged modus operandi is to introduce themselves as policemen. They would rent the cars they use in their operations, like what they did in Los Baños, early Tuesday, when they hijacked the vehicle of a certain Norwin Cabillo. According to the Laguna police, the group has records of kidnapping and robbery in the provinces of Quezon, Laguna and Batangas, including the recent abduction of a Pakistani national in Makati City. The victim, according to the police, paid P5 million in ransom. Authorities recovered three guns, a grenade, identification cards and cellular phones from the suspects who were brought to the Laguna police provincial headquarters. - GMANews.TV
