Traffic aides to ease NLEX traffic jam on Iglesia ni Cristo’s bash Sunday

The North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) management said on Friday that it has prepared additional personnel and counterflow lanes for Iglesia ni Cristo's centennial closing ceremony in Bulacan on Sunday.

NLEX spokesperson Kiko Dagohoy told GMA News Online that the management will be deploying additional patrol personnel and traffic marshals for the event, which will be held at the Philippine Arena.

Counterflow lanes will be open in the NLEX-Bocaue area when needed, he added.

"Attendees coming from the North will be advised to turn at the Mindanao Avenue Interchange. [Attendees from Manila] on the other hand will be advised to turn at the Balagtas Interchange," Dagohoy said in a text message.

At least two million people attended Iglesia ni Cristo's centennial celebration last year in the church-owned complex in Bocaue. As early as 8 a.m., at least two lanes at a portion of NLEX were filled with parked vehicles, causing heavy traffic in the area. -Trisha Macas/NB, GMA News
