Quake drill scheduled July 30 in Zamboanga City

Aside from Metro Manila, Zamboanga City will hold its own earthquake drill on Thursday, with the City Hall there to be the center of the exercise.

City police will also join the drill to ensure preparedness, according to a post on Mayor Isabelle Climaco-Salazar's Facebook post Wednesday.

"Included in the drill are all the offices located in the main City Hall and the City Hall annex. The drill will start once the city siren will start blaring during which the participating offices will then execute their respective earthquake response drills," it said.

Thursday's quake will be in partnership with the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.

Expected to take part in the exercise are the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and other city offices located at Pettit Barracks such as the City Health Office and City Social Welfare and Development Office, as well as the Housing and Land Management Division.

Mayor Climaco noted tremors experienced by the city in past months.

“We have noticed that there have been tremors in the city though some have not been felt,” she said.
