Woman killed in Olongapo hostage-taking incident
A woman in Olongapo City was killed by her own husband in a hostage-taking incident, a report on GMA News TV's "Balitanghali" said Thursday.
According to the police, the mother of the suspect called their attention as the couple would not stop fighting.
However, when the police arrived, the suspect, identified as Victor Rodriguez, would not leave the house and asked for the presence of their mayor, Rolen Paulino.
The report said when Paulino went to the area and tried to talk to Rodriguez, the suspect suddenly took his wife, Marivic Rodriguez, hostage.
It added that when the victim was no longer responding during the negotiations, the authorities decided to break into the house.
Marivic's body was found with multiple stab wounds, the report said, adding she was declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital.
Meanwhile, the suspect, who also stabbed himself and was believed to be under the influence of illegal drugs, is facing parricide charges. —Trisha Macas/KBK, GMA News
