Mom, daughter entombed in cement inside septic tank in Cebu

A mother and her 11-year-old daughter were found buried in cement inside the septic tank of their house in Barangay Lipata, Minglanilla, in Cebu province, a report from GMA's “24 Oras” program said Friday.

The report identified the victims as Virginia Sharpe and her daughter Mikaela who were not seen by family and friends for about a week.

“Ang nasa mindset lang namin okay lang si Virgie, nagbakasyon lang siya. Sa pag-open namin dito mabaho talaga siya. Ang baho, parang patay,” her friend Mary Ann Alipin said.

Police arrested three suspects who had recently done renovation work on the victims' house.

Investigators said one lead they are pursuing is that the primary suspect Manuel Labrador allegedly killed the victims after he was not able to cough up the P25,000 in advanced payment he owed them.

One of the suspects, Estelito Ricamora admitted he buried the victims after he was allegedly threatened by Labrador. Ricamora also said Labrador asked him to sell the tablet device of the victim.

Another suspect, George Baquiran, also pointed to Labrador as the mastermind in the killing.

“Pagpunta ko, naghukay siya sabay sabing tao ang ililibing. Umatras ako. Gusto kong umayaw. Sabi niya, 'Umayos ka, isasama kita diyan,'” Baquiran said.

Labrador denied all the allegations and instead pinned the blame on his two other co-workers.

“Walang katotohanang na-short ako dahil ang aking mga trabahante ang palaging bumabale. Bumabale hanggang ang pintura hindi natapos. Malaki pa ang kulang na pipinturahan,” the suspect said.  — ELR, GMA News
