PNoy OKs law creating new congressional districts for cities of Batangas, Lipa

President Benigno Aquino III has signed a law creating separate congressional districts for the cities of Batangas and Lipa.

 

Through Republic Act 10673, Aquino increased the number of congressional districts in Batangas province from four to six.

 

The fifth congressional district will be composed of Batangas City, while the sixth district will be composed of Lipa City.

 

Batangas City used to be part of the province’s second legislative district, while Lipa City used to belong to the fourth district.

 

As a result of the newly signed law, representatives for these two new districts will be elected during the 2016 polls. — Andreo Calonzo/RSJ, GMA News
