Pancit bihon downs 128 in South Cotabato


KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato – At least 128 people were rushed to the hospital due to alleged food poisoning after having lunch in a religious gathering in Lake Sebu, South Cotabato, Sunday afternoon.
 
Lake Sebu Mayor Antonio Fungan, disclosed that the victims are all residents of Barangay Takunel who attended the establishment of a "salvation army" initiated by the religious sect in the area.
 
Mayor Fungan told dxOM Radyo Bida Koronadal that a few hours after the victims ate pancit bihon during the event.
 
“They allegedly experiencing stomach aches, vomiting and loose bowel movement prompting their fellow members to bring them to the nearest hospital,” Fungan said.
 
Mayor Fungan believed that the bihon served to the victims was spoiled.
 
“The youth of Barangay Takunel cooked the food,” Mayor Fungan disclosed.
 
The victims remained confined at the Lake Sebu Emergency Hospital for observation.
