Police seize 130 kilos of marijuana at Bacnotan, La Union checkpoint

 

A van flagged down at a checkpoint in Bacnotan, La Union yielded 130 kilograms of dried marijuana leaves hidden in bags.

 

According to a GMA News TV Live report, the driver of the van denied owning the marijuana leaves.

 

He said he had been hired to transport plants gathered in the nearby mountains to the airport. The report did not say which airport the driver was supposed to be heading to.

 

Authorities said the drugs are worth an estimated P6 million.

 

The driver, and others in the van, will be charged with violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. — JDS, GMA News
