Philippine serpent eagle found dead in Negros

A Philippine serpent eagle has been found dead in Barangay Sibulan, Negros Oriental.

 

A report by GMA News' Unang Balita said the Philippine serpent eagle, which can only be found in the country, was found by residents in Sitio Hagnaya, Barangay Sibulan.

 

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources said that the eagle could have died from an illness.

 

Some residents have expressed interest to preserve the eagle, but the DENR prohibited them.

 

It said that the illness that caused the death of the eagle may be contagious.

 

Last month, another Philippine eagle named Pamana, was found dead in Mount Hamiguitan Range in Davao Oriental.

 

Pamana was killed by hunters. It was found with a gunshot wound in the body. —ALG, GMA News
