Some Samal resorts say business unaffected by recent kidnapping

Business has not been affected by the recent kidnapping incident in the area, some resorts in the Island Garden City of Samal said.

In a phone interview with GMA News Online, the management of Paradise Island Park and Beach Resort, which has been operating for 20 years, said that they received no cancellations despite the kidnapping.

The management said that Ocean View, where three foreigners and a Filipina were kidnapped, was around 20 kilometers away from their resort. It also stressed that its security measures have always been "stringent."

Punta del Sol Resort and Bali Bali Beach Resort managements also said that their bookings have not been affected by the incident.

At least 20 armed men swooped into Ocean View Resort at around 11 p.m. Monday night and abducted three foreigners and a Filipina.

The victims have been identified as Kjartan Sekkingstad, the resort's Norwegian operations manager; Canadians John Ridsdel and Robert Hall; and a Filipina named Tess.  — BM, GMA News
