Floods in Bulacan’s Calumpit town subsiding
Floods in the town of Calumpit in Bulacan began to subside as the weather conditions there improved on Friday, a report on “Balitanghali” said.
Major Roberto Morallos of the 525th Engr. Combat Battalion was quoted by the report as saying that floodwaters have subsided to 2.2 meters from Thursday's 2.9 meters.
Still, Morallos and other members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines are place on standby, particularly in Barangays Gatbuca and Frances.
Relief operations have continued with AFP personnel using rubber boats to deliver food packs to residents of flooded barangays.
The remains of a man who died of heart attack was also transported by the soldiers using their rubber boats, the report said.
A total of 1,538 families or 6,767 individuals from Calumpit are still in evacuation centers due to the floods.
Local officials declared Calumpit in state of calamity after floods hit 25 of its 29 barangays.
Affected barangays included: Balungao, Bulusan, Calizon, Calumpang, Caniogan, Corazon, Frances, Gatbuca, Gugo, Iba Este, Iba-O-Este, Meysulao, Meyto, Palimbang, Panducot, Pio, Crucoza, Poblacion, Pungo, San Jose, San Miguel, Sapang Bayan, Sta.
