Tanker crashes against AUV in Nueva Vizcaya; 4 hurt
Four people were hurt after a tanker with malfunctioning brakes crashed into an AUV on Thursday along Maharlika Highway in Bagabag, Nueva Vizacaya, according to Saleema Refran's report on Balitanghali.
Rescue operations were ongoing as of Thursday noon to extract the AUV driver who was trapped inside the passenger seat, after his thigh was pinned down by one of the tanker's wheels.
The driver was removed from the vehicle at 12:40 p.m.
The report quoted the tanker's driver as saying that he was supposed to crash his vehicle to the side of the hill upon realizing that his brakes had stopped working when the AUV, a red Innova, suddenly appeared on his way. He said he lost control of his vehicle.
One of the tanker's passengers reportedly crashed into the windshield. It's driver has been taken to the hospital along with his two passengers.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) has begun clearing the road of leaked molasses that were meant to be delivered to Isabela by the tanker.
The Maharlika Highway, meanwhile, was closed to traffic due to the accident. —Jessica Bartolome/KBK, GMA News
