Four teenagers drown in Bulacan river


Four teenagers drowned after being swept by a strong current while swimming at Balogan River in Norzagaray, Bulacan on Tuesday.

GMA News' Mark Zambrano said the bodies of Lovely Lacaba and Nelson Gobin, both 18 years old, were found on Wednesday morning.

The bodies of Lacaba and Gobin were found in Kanyakan and Bakas rivers, 200 meters from Balogan River.

The bodies of the two other fatalities identified as Christian Palen and Butch Nario, both 16 years old, were found Tuesday.

Zambrano said that according to Almar Nuñez of the Norzagaray Rescue, the victims along with three other friends were swept by a strong current at the river at around noon Tuesday.

Nuñez said the incident happened as water was released from Angat Dam.

The local government of Norzagaray is planning to deploy more rescue personnel and install more early warning devices arond the river. —ALG, GM A News
