Fire trucks tapped to water Kidapawan City's plants, trees
The local government of Kidapawan has tapped the services of the fire department to water plants and trees around the city to ease the effects of El Niño.
City Administrator Lou Mayormita said the fire department have been asked to water plants and trees daily in the morning and afternoon.
Mayormita said that the fuel for the firetrucks' extra activity will be funded by the city government.
The city government has reported that several hectares of farmland have been damaged by the El Niño phenomenon, which is expected to last until June or July of this year.
The whole provinces of Cotabato has been placed under a state of calamity due to the effects of El Niño.
The provincial agriculture department has pegged the El Niño's damage to agriculture at nearly P240 million. —ALG, GMA News
