3 inmates kill jail officer, hurt cop during prison break in Batangas

Three inmates shot their way out of a jail facility in Balayan, Batangas, before dawn Saturday.

An initial report from the Batangas police identified the escaped detainees as Ajie Mendoza, Marvin Seralbo and Jessie Pega.

The three prisoners took the gun of Senior Jail Officer 1 Leonardo de Castro and shot the prison officer in the head.

As the three prisoners escape from the Balayan Municipal Jail, shot and wounded Police Officer 3 Roderick Botavara.

De Castro was declared dead at the Madonna General Hospital while Reyes remains in critical condition.

Investigations are ongoing to determine how the three prisoners got out from the detention cell.

Manhunt operations have also been launched for the capture of the three inmates. —ALG, GMA News
