One dead in Batangas vehicular accident
One person died in a three-vehicle collision involving a trailer truck and two passenger vehicles in Nasugbu, Batangas, on Wednesday morning.
Inspector Diana del Rosario, chief of the Nasugbu Police Station, told radio dzBB that the fatality was a passenger of the trailer truck.
The truck's driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a San Agustin passenger bus, which hit a passenger jeepney parked along the highway in Barangay Kaylaway.
Del Rosario said some passengers of the jeep were hurt in the accident.
She said the mishap happened between 6:30 a.m. and 7 a.m. as the trailer was heading to Nasugbu town from Tagaytay City.
Police were investigating the incident as of this posting.
In an interview with Balitanghali, Del Rosario said based on initial investigation, the trailer truck's brakes malfunctioned, causing it to hit the bus in front of it. The bus then lost control because of the impact and hit a jeep that was loading passengers heading to Tagaytay.
The jeep already had high school students sitting inside when the accident happened, the report said.
The truck ended up crashing into a house and hitting a couple. The couple was rushed to a hospital but had already been declared out of danger and sent home.
There were still 10 people who were under medication in the hospital as of posting time, while the driver of the truck, identified as Manuel Siscon from Las Pinas City, was in critical condition.
His assistant, however, identified only as Arnel, was declared dead on the spot. —with Jessica BartolomeBAP/ALG/KBK, GMA News
