Boracay slowly losing its corals — DENR

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has disclosed the results of a study on diving sites around Boracay island, according to a report on GMA's Unang Balita.

The result of the report showed that corals are slowly being destroyed by a type of starfish called crown of thorns.

The DENR conducted the study on 20 diving sites around the island last September 2015.

The agency said that the destruction of the corals would affect the tourism business in the area. Corals are the natural habitat of marine animals.

The DENR is currently conducting another study on ways to curtail the destruction of corals along Boracay island. — BAP, GMA News
