7 killed in Davao City highway mishap

Seven people were killed in a head-on collision between a dump truck and a Nissan bongo along a highway in Marilog district, Davao City on Saturday.

Chief Inspector Andrea dela Cerna, spokesperson of the Southern Mindanao Regional Police, identified the fatalities as Lajabangsa Merhamen Saipudon, Abdurahim Hanapi Jara, Tata Ljara, Sarang Alkarim Sali, Benjamin Villarojo Loculan Jr., and Danilo Hizona Calanza, all residents of Basilan.

Dela Cerna said that the Nissan Bongo was speeding along the Davao-Bukidnon highway in Sitio Pagan  Grande, Barangay Tamugan at around 10:30 a.m. when it took the opposite lane and slammed into the dump truck.

She said the victims were all passengers of the Nissan Bongo.
