Passengers crowd provincial bus terminals after Holy Week break

Chance passengers crowded provincial bus terminals on Monday hoping to snag a ride on the fully booked buses bound for Metro Manila.

Almost 5,000 passengers flocked to the Bicol Central Station since Sunday, most of them chance passengers. However, all buses have been booked until the end of March, a report on Unang Balita said.

To ensure the safety of passengers, the Bicol Central station manager said they conducted drug tests on bus drivers and conductors.

Meanwhile, long queues welcomed passengers at the Laoag Bus Terminal in Ilocos Norte, another report on Unang Balita on Monday said.

Due to the volume of passengers, intervals between trips stretched to more than an hour.

According to the dispatcher, they had to deploy additional buses to accommodate chance passengers. —Kiersnerr Gerwin Tacadena/KG, GMA News
