Unattended garbage allegedly sparks forest fire in Bontoc

A pile of garbage left smoldering allegedly sparked a forest fire in Bontoc, Mountain Province, a report on Unang Balita on Friday said.

The fire occurred in Sitio Finew in the mountainous area of the province and spread through five hectares of land.

Firemen had difficulty putting out the fire because of the steep terrain.

The Bureau of Fire Protection advised motorists to watch out for falling rocks when passing through the Bontoc-Banaue Road, as a result of the fire.

Firemen also helped remove the rocks from the road, the report said.

No one was reported injured in the fire. —KG, GMA News
