Blue whale spotted in Oslob, Cebu?

A blue whale was believed to have been spotted in the seas of Oslob town in Cebu province.

Skyscraper City-Cebu, a non-profit tourism advocacy group, posted on its Facebook page photos of the spotted whale in Oslob, where whale shark watching is famous.

The municipality is the first marine protected area in the Philippines.

It said that the Large Marine Vertebrates Project Philippines believes that the marine mammal spotted off Oslob was a blue whale.

The blue whale (Balaenoptera musculus) is included in the International Union for Conservation of Nature's Red List of threatened species.

The group said, however, that some group claim it was a humpback whale.
