Corpse of missing 11-year-old girl found in Calamba 

The corpse of 11-year-old Rasha Mae Mercado, who had been missing since Wednesday, was found in an overgrown area in Barangay Sampiruhan in Laguna's Calamba City, GMA 7 news program “24 Oras Weekend” reported on Saturday.

Mercado's body was found with a sharp stick thrust through the left eye, and a rope wrapped around her neck.

The victim's mother, Melanie Mercado, suspected that her daughter had been raped because her shorts were put on backwards.

Rasha Mae was last seen alive at their home in Barangay Palingon, and according to Melanie, it was unlikely that her daughter just wandered-off.

“Ako po ay nananawagan sa inyo na tulungan niyo kami na mahuli yung suspect,” pleaded Melanie. “Kasi hindi ko kaya makita ang anak ko. Brutal po talaga ang pagkakapatay.”
