Forest fire strikes Mt. Banahaw

A forest fire raged in Mt. Banahaw in Nagcarlan, Laguna on Wednesday night, a report in Balitanghali on Thursday said.

According to the report, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said that residents of San Pablo noticed the flames past 7 p.m.

The cause of the fire is still unknown, it added.

Last month, fire struck Mt. Matutum, an active volcano in South Cotabato, and 20 hectares of a forest in Aklan.

Mt. Apo, the highest mountain in the Philippines, was also ravaged by a recent blaze, prompting officials to close the trek indefinitely. —Jessica Bartolome/KG, GMA News
