Heat blamed for mayoral candidate's death in Sorsogon City
A former mayor of Sorsogon City in Sorsogon province died Tuesday night, a day after he was found unconscious inside his home.
Former mayor Leovic Dioneda was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit at 1 p.m. on Monday where doctors and medical staff were able to successfully revive him until his blood pressure stabilized and his color went back to normal.
However, on Tuesday at about 9 p.m., Dioneda, who is running for mayor in the May elections, was pronounced dead.
His family has yet to disclose the cause of death, but said the stress of campaigning and extreme heat may have contributed to his demise.
Several supporters of the former mayor have expressed their sympathies on social media.
