Bridal car kills boy in Camarines Sur

A speeding bridal car killed a seven-year-old boy in Iriga City, Camarines Sur on Friday morning.

Police identified the victim as Jake Layosa of Zone 2, Barangay Santiago in Iriga City.

The victim's father, Frederick, said his son was crossing the street when the bridal car hit him.

He said that the driver should have reduced speed because the area is a school zone.

The boy died from wounds in different parts of his body.

Police said the driver identified as Arnel Barra could not show a driver's license.

The driver claimed that he was already reducing speed because he noticed that he was approaching a school zone.

Barra said he was on his way to attend a wedding in Buhi town and service a newly-married couple.

He is now detained at the Iriga City Police Station. He is facing a case of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide. —report from Michael Biando/ALG, GMA News
