Bontoc residents' prayers answered with one-hour rain

The prayers of residents of Bontoc, Mountain Province were answered with an hour of heavy downpour on Monday.

GMA News stringer Ferdinand Castañeda reported that heavy rains, accompanied by lightning, hit Bontoc town from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The heavy rains somehow eased the effects of drought being experienced by the town for severa months now.

The rain totally extinguished the mountain fire at Sitio Tablaan, Barangay Bontoc Ili.

Castañeda reported that the rain also cooled down the extreme summer heat being experienced in the town.

He reported that residents who have been relying on costly water delivery, brought out empty containers and drums during the one-hour downpour.

The rain also drenched the rice fields and vegetable farms in the town.

The farmers are hoping for more rains in the coming days. —ALG, GMA News
