Cebu City mayor refuses to concede

Incumbent Cebu City Mayor Mike Rama opposed the results in the ongoing canvassing of votes that showed his rival, former Cebu City mayor and former congressman Tomas Osmeña leading the count, GMA Cebu's Nikko Sereno reported.

In a press conference on Monday evening, Rama and his political allies expressed disbelief at the results.

Based on non-official and partial results, Osmeña garnered 265, 425 votes against Rama's 231,374 votes.

He even showed copies of their pre election surveys showing him with a good lead over his rival with their party attaining a straight win for the councilors' slate on election day. Rama called on his supporters to hold a vigil at the city hall grounds.

Meanwhile, Cebu City north district election officer Edwin Cadungog said the winners will be proclaimed on Tuesday.

On Tuesday afternoon, Rama and his allies are set to attend a mass that will be held at the Plaza Sugbo located near the Cebu city hall.  — BAP, GMA News
