Dimaporos dominate top elective posts in Lanao del Norte
Members of the Dimaporo political clan dominated the elections in the province of Lanao del Norte.
This, after the Provincial Board of Canvassers proclaimed the winners in the local elections at 8 p.m. Friday.
Proclaimed were Angging Quibranza Dimaporo as governor and her running mate Cristy Atay as vice-governor.
The winning governor received 146,964 votes while Atay won the race for vice-governor with 125,718 votes.
The winning governor's closest rival was Eleanor Lantud while Atay's closest rival was Muammar Maquiling.
Two more Dimaporos were also proclaimed as members of the House of Representatives -- Mohammad Khalid Dimaporo as representative of Lanao del Norte's 1st District and Abdullah Dimaporo for representative of the province's 2nd District.
Mohammad Khalid, who got 79,882 votes, won against Jo Sanguila and Dunhill Palomares while Abdullah, who got 80,691 votes, won against his sole rival, Osop Omar. —ALG, GMA News
