NBI arrests two suspects linked to investment scam in Baguio City

Operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) nabbed on Thursday two employees linked to an alleged investment scam involving a wellness marketing firm in Baguio City.

A report on Unang Balita said Romy-lee Batolne-law and Claire Batolne of Satarah Wellness Marketing were arrested in a resort in Anda, Pangasinan.

The suspects were then immediately brought to the NBI office in Baguio City to face syndicated estafa charges.

According to the NBI, the suspects entice people to invest in the company by promising a 20-percent return on their investment in a span of six months.

Victims of the scam quickly surfaced upon the suspects' arrest.

Authorities said the suspects amassed a total of P1 billion in only three years.

It even allegedly received P150 million from the Rural Bank of Bugias in Mountain Province.

Meanwhile, authorities fear the main suspect of the scam, Wing Pan Henrich Lau, already fled the country. —Joseph Tristan Roxas/KG, GMA News
