5 classrooms in Pagadian City to be abandoned due to fear of landslide

Due to heavy rainfall, five classrooms in Pagadian City may not be available for use when school opens this month due to the possibility of landslide, a report on Unang Balita on Friday said.

Teachers of the Otto Lingue National High School in Brgy. Lower Sibatang are afraid that a landslide may occur again.

In 2015, a landslide occurred in the direction of the classrooms but the building was not damaged.

The local government initiated rip-rapping construction work in the area, the report said.

While the rip-rapping work is still being done, students will be asked to go to other rooms in the school building in the meantime.

Meanwhile, construction work on two new classrooms in the same school has resumed last April. The new classrooms are expected to be finished in July.

Work on the two new classrooms was stopped in January after the City Disaster Management Office declared the area not fit for public use.

The said office lifted the declaration in April. —KG, GMA News
