Intensity-3 quake rocks Marinduque
An intensity-3 quake rocked Marinduque Wednesday, the second quake to rock the country on the same day. According to a dzBB interview with Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) Julius Dabiano revealed that the quake was recorded 10:18 a.m. in Boac, Marinduque. There were no reports of casualties or damage as of posting time. Earlier, a magnitude-4.9 quake rocked Cotabato City in Mindanao before dawn Wednesday while a mild quake was felt in Basco town in Batanes in extreme northern Luzon late Tuesday night. But Phivolcs said the quake in Mindanao was not strong enough to cause damage while that in Batanes was virtually not felt. âWala namang damage. Sa ngayon wala kaming nakalap na information kung may damage. Pero kung damage, kailangan Intensity 5 or 6, at para mag-crack sa building kailangan Intensity 7 (We havenât received reports of damage. But a quake would have to be felt at Intensity 5 or 6 to cause damage, and Intensity 7 to cause cracks in buildings)," Phivolcs seismologist-on-duty Rommel Grutas said in an interview on dzBB radio. He said the quake was felt at Intensity 4 in Cotabato City, and Intensity 2 in Pagadian City..- GMANews.TV
