Villagers lynch suspected serial rapist in Aklan

Villagers lynched a man suspected of raping four women in Madalag, Aklan.

Senior Police Officer 4 Rene Donato Jr. of the Madalag Municipal Police Station identified the slain suspect as Ninofranco Abundo, resident of Barangay Mamba.

Donato said Abundo was suspected of raping four women in the barangays Mamba and Alas-as.

He said that Abundo had been arrested recently for setting his own house on fire, but was released since no one filed a complaint against him.

After his release, the suspect started living in the mountain in Madalag town.

After the fourth rape incident, residents of the two barangays agreed to hunt down Abundo.

Donato said that aside from severe physical injuries due to the lynching, the back of Abundo's body also had a gunshot wound.

He said investigations are ongoing to identify Abundo's shooter. —report from Jun Aguirre/ALG, GMA News
