(Update) Arresting cop dies, 4 others hurt in grenade blast in Bukidnon

(Updated 10:30 a.m.) A policeman died while he and his fellow lawmen were trying to arrest a suspect, who retaliated by lobing a grenade at them in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, radio station dzMM reported Friday. Authorities identified the fatality as Police Officer (PO) 2 Roy Francisco of the Bukidnon provincial police. Rushed to the hospital were his colleagues Police Inspector Crisanto Molina, Senior PO1 Melchor Hilno, PO3 Joseph Galupo, and PO3 Esmeraldo Cahilig. Initial reports indicated that the five policemen were supposed to arrest the suspect, identified as Moises Francia, in his residence in Nueve village on Friday morning when the latter hurled the grenade at them. The report did not immediately identify the suspect's alleged crime. Malaybalay is a third class city in Bukidnon province located 61 kms north of Don Carlos town, where a provincial chairman of Sanlakas party-list was shot dead two weeks ago by two motorcycle-riding men who remain at large. - GAMNews.TV
