Inmates getting sick in Ilocos Norte due to prison congestion

Some inmates at the Ilocos Norte Provincial Jail have been getting sick due to the crowded facilities, a report on Unang Balita on Tuesday said.

According to the warden, some of the inmates are suffering from upper respiratory tract infection.

The infection easily gets passed on from inmate to inmate due to prison congestion.

The Provincial Health Office has already provided medicines for those who are ill.

Jail officials have already informed the local government of the lack of cells for all inmates.

The number of inmates arose due to the recent operations against drug suspects. —KG, GMA News
