Cops arrest 2 ‘drug pushers’ in Batangas City

Two suspected drug pushers allegedly on Batangas City drug watch list were arrested in a buy-bust operation last Thursday.

GMA News stringer Marlon Luistro identified the suspects as Donna Atienza and Jose Romulo Mercado.

An initial police investigation showed that the suspects were caught in the act of selling illegal drugs during an operation in Barangay Alangilan at  past 6:30 a.m.

Batangas Police anti-illegal drugs group acted on a tip from one of their imformants on the two suspects activities.

Authorities recovered from the crime scene three sachets of suspected shabu and the P1,000 marked money used by the police asset to purchase the drugs.

The suspects did not resist arrest, police said.

Based on police records, Atienza was listed 122nd on the drug watch list while Mercado ranked 801th.

The suspects are being detained at the Batangas City Police Station and will face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. — Joseph Tristan Roxas/LBG, GMA News
