Pampanga, Bataan remain flooded

Several areas in the provinces of Pampanga and Bataan remained flooded as heavy rains brought on by the southwest monsoon continued on Sunday.

A report from Tricia Zafra on Balitanghali said 88 barangays from 11 towns and a city in Pampanga were still flooded.

The San Fernando City fly-over along the Gapan-San Fernando-Olongapo Road was flooded on Saturday evening, limiting the vehicles passing the area.

Commuters were forced to walk through knee-deep floodwaters.

Ten patients from the emergency room of the city's V.L. Makabali Memorial Hospital in B. Mendoza Street had to be transferred to the second floor when flood waters started coming in on Saturday.

Meanwhile, a house in the city's St. Jude Village cracked open as it was hit by floodwaters.

The GMA News team spotted the owner named Estacio pouring sandbags on the sides of the house as a temporary solution.

Some residents in the area have abandoned their homes that were also hit by floods.

Authorities reported that the Candaba-Baliwag Road remained impassable to all types of vehicles as of 9 a.m.

Meanwhile, a report from Mark Zambrano said houses in Barangay Almacen in Hermosa, Bataan were almost totally submerged in floodwaters.

The nearby barangay of Pulo was also affected. Crops and properties worth more than P1 million were damaged by floodwaters in the barangay.

Local officials were puzzled due to the sudden rise of floodwaters in their area, saying this never happened in the past.
