Cops nab suspect in slay of former Bulacan vice mayor
Police have arrested the suspect in the killing of a former vice mayor of Pandi town in Bulacan in April.
Chief Superintendent Aaron Aquino, the PNP regional director in Central Luzon, said suspect Ariel Lorenzana, alias Ogie, 36, and resident of Brgy. Pinaod, San Ildefonso, Bulacan was nabbed inside an online gaming center in Barangay Poblacion, also in San Ildefonso.
Lorenzana is the prime suspect in the killing of former Pandi municipal vice mayor Roberto Rivera last April 18.
Rivera served as vice mayor from 1992 to 1998.
He said the arrest was made based on the warrant issued by Judge Hermenegildo Dumlao II of Malolos City, Bulacan Regional Trial Court, Branch 81, last December 20, 2013 based on a separate murder case filed against him. No bail was recommended for him in that case.
The accused is presently detained at Bulacan custodial facility for proper disposition prior turn over to court.
Initial report on the incident showed that Rivera was shot five times using a 45-caliber pistol in Barangay Namatan, Pandi, Bulacan while on his way home. —NB, GMA News
