Davao City holds memorial for Roxas night market blast victims

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte on Saturday afternoon led a memorial service for the victims of the Roxas night market blast, which left 14 dead and more than 60 other injured.

Those who attended the memorial prayed for the injured victims confined in at least four hospitals in the city.

In a message on the city's Facebook account, Mayor Duterte urged her constituents to "stand up now."

"The measure of success of terrorism is how long it takes for the victims to stand up. We will stand up NOW," she said in a message.

The memorial started at 4 p.m. at the Roxas Night Market.

President Rodrigo Duterte, the mayor's father, placed the entire country in a state of lawlessness hours after the deadly blast.

Earlier in the day, President Duterte visited the injured victims and talked with their relatives.

The President also checked on the bodies of those who were killed in the blast and their families. —report from Chino Gaston/ALG, GMA News
