Police plan to convert Espinosa property in Leyte into rehab center
A 2,500-square meter property of the family of Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa Jr. will soon be converted into a rehabilitation center, the town's police chief said Monday.
Chief Inspector Jove Espenido, chief of the Albuera police, said the vast property is located in Sitio Tinago in Barangay Benolho, at least 100 meters away from the mansion of the mayor's son, Kerwin, and the ancestral home of the Espinosas.
Espenido said they made a proposal to the mayor to convert the property into a drug rehabilitation center and the local official agreed.
He added that the family has expressed preparedness to sign all needed documents, including a Deed of Donation, so the police can use the property.
In a report by GMA News early August, among items being kept in the include jet skis and speedboats. Dozens of roosters for cockfighting and a collection of pythons were also found in the property.
Espenido said that the house within the compound may be converted into an office and can be used as quarters for the workers of the rehabilitation center.
The town police chief also said that the planned rehabilitation center can house at least 100 patients.
Espenido, meanwhile, said the police would welcome donations for the construction of the rehabilitation center. —ALG, GMA News
