DAR delivers P9.9-M irrigation facility to Davao del Norte

The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) has turned over a P9.94 million of irrigation facility to the community of Dagohoy in Talaingo, Davao del Norte.

In  a statement on Tuesday, DAR said the irrigation facility will benefit some 4,000 residents of Dagohoy.

Agrarian Reform Secretary Rafael Mariano said the irrigation project facility will boost agriculture products while addressing food security and food sufficiency.

“The facility will irrigate the farm lots to help increase the farmers’ harvest. This is part of the department’s goal to improve the lives of the farmer-beneficiaries, ” Mariano said.

Covering a service area of about 49 hectares, the Dagohoy Communal Irrigation Project  (CIP) is part of the Agrarian Reform Infrastructure Support Project (ARISP) III in partnership with the National Irrigation Administration and the Municipality of Talaingod.

The project will be managed by the Dagohoy Talaingod Irrigators Association.

The beneficiaries of the project will be provided with training and seminar on how to increase production, DAR said. — Ted Cordero/VDS, GMA News
