Cavinti town in Laguna declared drug-free
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) has declared Cavinti town in Laguna as "drug-cleared."
The PDEA's regional office in Calabarzon said the declaration was made after a thorough study and months of surveillance of the drug situation in the town.
It said that those surrendered under the police's Project Tokhang in the town have shunned drugs.
Cavinti Mayor Milbert Oliveros said PDEA's declaration will help improve the town's tourism industry.
Based on the local police's data, a total of 150 drug users and pushers surrendered to the authorities under Project Tokhang in the town, which has a total of 19 barangays.
Only two police operations against drug suspects have been conducted in the town since July. —ALG, GMA News
