2 drown, 1 missing in sea accident off Camarines Sur
Two civilian agents drowned and another remains missing after a motorized banca they were riding capsized off Camarines Sur amid strong winds and rough seas on Friday brought about by Storm Marce.
Citing initial information from authorities, a report on Super Radyo dzBB on Saturday morning said the incident happened off Lagonoy in Camarines Sur province.
Meanwhile, a GMA news report said that the victims were civilian agents of the police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) of the province.
According to the report, the team from the CIDG sailed despite Coast Guard imposition of a "no sail policy" due to the bad weather condition.
GMA News stringer Michael Biando said the banca the victims were riding capsized due to strong winds and big waves, and that the remains of the two who drowned have been retrieved and brought to Naga City.
The fatalities were identified as Tomas Rentoy VII and Isagani Dadis. They were part of a CIDG team that was about to do rescue operations in Garchitorena town.
According to the Biando, the team left Tamban Tinambac Port on a small motor boat Friday morning.
But when they reached off Barangay Mapid in Lagonoy the weather turned bad and the seas rough.
Most of the CIDG agents on the boat have been rescued, including CIDG provincial officer police Chief Inspector Ronnie Fabia.
Still missing is SPO4 Edwin Pagao, who is now a subject of a search and rescue operation. —LBG, GMA News
