Mom of 16-year-old stabbing victim in Baguio cries for justice, appeals to Duterte

The mother of the 16-year-old stabbing victim in Baguio City on Thursday cried for justice and has appealed to President Rodrigo Duterte to look into her son's case.

"President Duterte, if you are hearing this, sana matingnan niyo ang case ng anak ko. Sana pag-aralan niyo mabuti dahil hindi makatao ang ginawa sa anak ko," Claire Velaso said in a report from Tina Panganiban-Perez on Balitanghali.

Velasco's son, Kenneth, was stabbed multiple times by unknown suspects in their home in Brgy. Labsan on Wednesday morning.

Velasco said her son's father still managed to call Kenneth, a Grade 10 student, before the cellphone was out of reach by the third attempt.

"Nakasakay siya ng 6:15 ng umaga. Natawagan pa ng papa niya ng 6:30. Nakausap pa siya. After nu'n mga 10 to 15 minutes, ring ng ring 'yung phone tapos nu'ng third call cannot be reached na," she said.

Medical examination showed Kenneth suffered from hemorrhage due to 31 stab wounds caused by a knife and an ice pick.

Meanwhile, Baguio City Police has yet to determine the motive of the crime but considers it a theft since the victim was found without his cellphone and P200 allowance.

Velasco said Kenneth had no enemies in school and was a friendly person among his peers.

"Mabait na bata 'yang anak ko. Wala akong masasabi diyan. Tinanong ko rin classmates niya. Wala rin silang alam, wala. Marami siyang friends," she said.

The police are now looking into the CCTV footage where two minors were found on the same street where Kenneth's corpse was found.

Superintendent Johnson Smith Abellera vowed the Baguio City PNP will go on full force to locate the suspects.

"Sa ngayon, full force po ang ating imbestigador katulong ang lahat ng istasyon na may sakop sa pinangyarihan ng insidente," Abellera said, chief of the Investigation Division of the Baguio City Police Office. —Joseph Tristan Roxas/KG, GMA News
