Calapan in Oriental Mindoro placed under state of calamity
The city government of Calapan in Oriental Mindoro on Tuesday declared a state of calamity due to the damage caused by Typhoon Nina.
Following the declaration, Calapan City Mayor Arnan Panaligan immediately ordered agencies to submit their rapid damage assessment reports in infrastructure and agriculture and a list of beneficiaries of Emergency Housing Assistance.
Panaligan also took note of the number of typhoon-displaced people from the city to make sure that relief efforts would be continuous.
As of 5 p.m. on Tuesday, the number of evacuees in various centers across the city were as follows:
- Navotas: 131 families, 440 individuals
- Maidlang: 20 families, 77 individuals
- Gutad: 4 families, 13 individuals
- Pachoca: 1 family, 7 individuals
- Bucayao National High School: 70 families, 232 individuals
- Bucayao Barangay Hall: 65 families, 237 individuals
- Calapan City Hall, Ibaba East: 49 families, 180 individuals
