Quezon province under state of calamity due to Typhoon Nina
The local government of Quezon has placed the entire province under a state of calamity due to the damage caused by Typhoon Nina, an Unang Balita report on Thursday said.
Following their meeting on Wednesday, the Provincial Risk Reduction and Management Council of Quezon submitted a recommendation to Gov. David Suarez to place the province under state of calamity due to the extent of damage of the typhoon.
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan later conducted a special session and, through a resolution, they declared the province under state of calamity.
Suarez confirmed in a Balitanghali interview on Monday that a man from Mulanay town died after being hit by a toppled palm tree at the height of typhoon.
