Search for two missing students continues along river in Bulacan

Authorities are searching for two Bulacan State University students who were last seen Saturday noon taking a dip in Norzagaray town's Matictic River.

Nozagaray police chief Superintendent Rizalino Andaya identified the students as Jericho Burgos from Bulakan town and Jaycie Ronwill Balitaosan, 19, from Valenzuela City.

Andaya said the two victims and another student identified only as Emman were last seen taking a dip in the river.

Police said the students were shooting a short film in the area. The film was supposed to be the students' entry to the 2017 Sine Bulacan Film Festival.

Andaya suspected the two may have drowned as they were not familiar with the river, which swells at noon as a nearby dam regularly releases excess water from its reservoir.

Emman has been rescued while members of the Bulacan Rescue Team continue to search for the two missing students as of this posting. —with a report from Rommel Ramos/LBG/ALG, GMA News
