Former Misamis Oriental mayor denies links to illegal drugs

The former mayor of Lugait town in Misamis Oriental went to the Philippine National Police regional office on Monday, the police reported.

Willy Lim, who was named in the narco list of President Rodrigo Duterte, paid PNP Regional Director Chief Supt. Agripino Javier to clear his name.

Lim was accompanied by Misamis Oriental Gov. Yevgeny "Bambi" Emano and PNP Provincial Director Senior Supt. Sukarno Alvarez.

"The standard operating procedure relative to the clearing or delisting of his name will still be undertaken. In other words, we will still be validating the claims of former mayor Willy Lim and will continue conducting our own investigation," Javier said in a statement.

"However, we are glad he (Lim) reported to us and manifested his willingness to cooperate," he added.

Governor Emano also voiced his support for the police official's war against illegal drugs as he also proposed to disseminate President Rodrigo Duterte's directive to officials in the province. — BAP, GMA News
