2 teachers nabbed in CDO drug buy-bust

Police have arrested in Cagayan de Oro two public school teachers who were allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade.

The suspects were identified as Alex dela Vega and Velijun Perez, teachers at Macanhan National High School and Canitoan National Hogh School, respectively. They were arrested in a buy-bust operation.

Seized from Dela Vega and Perez, who were nabbed early Thursday in Barangay Carmen, were nine sachets of suspected shabu worth P50,000.

According to Police Senior Inspector Dennis Ebsolo, chief of Lumbia Police Station, they have received reports that the two were selling illegal drugs.

Dela Vega and Perez, both considered high-value targets by the police, are now under the custody of Lumbia Police Station and will face charges for selling and possessing illegal narcoticss.

The Department of Education in Cagayan de Oro, meanwhile, called a meeting with all school principals in the city after the arrest of the two teachers. —John Ted Cordero/KBK, GMA News
