More than 30 aftershocks recorded after Batangas quake
More than 30 aftershocks have been recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology following the magnitude-5.5 quake that struck Tingloy, Batangas on Tuesday night.
A total of 34 mild to weak tremors were recorded in Tingloy. The strongest aftershock so far struck at 12:49 a.m. Wednesday.
It was felt strongest at Intensity 3 in Tagaytay City, Quezon City and Pasig City. Intensity 2 was felt in Talisay, Batangas.
Weak tremors were also recorded in Mabini and San Luis towns in Batangas.
Classes in all levels in Batangas and Laguna provinces have been ordered suspended as local engineers are expected to check the structural integrity of classrooms.
The magnitude-5.5 quake was recorded at past 8 p.m. Tuesday night. It was felt strongest at Intensity 6 in Batangas City.
Local officials have reported minor damages to business establishments, a hospital and other buildings in towns in Batangas. —ALG, GMA News
