Report: Mayor's son, 2 others die in Sulu clash
The son of a municipal mayor and two others were killed while three people were wounded after a gun battle erupted in Pangutaran town in the island province of Sulu, dzMM radio reported Monday. The radio report said the confrontation took place in Simbahan village. Akmad Nanoh, identified as a son of Pangutaran mayor Ahmad Alip Nanoh, died on the spot. Also killed were a certain Basit Ismael and his security escort identified as a certain "Bash." Initial reports said that the mayor's son exchanged fire with Ismael, who was backed up by several security escorts. Wounded were the Ismael's three security details, who were not immediately identified. They were rushed to the Sulu Provincial Hospital, the report added. Authorities have yet to determine the reason of the confrontation. Pangutaran is a fourth class municipality in Sulu and has a population of 26,211 people in 4,643 households. - GMANews.TV
